Participants: TLPI staff from this project, Judge Korey Wahwassuck, Consultant, TLPI, and Terry Janis, Director, Niibi Center Institute for the Rights of Nature
This call was to introductions between Judge Korey Wahwassuck - Grand Rapids, Itasca County Judge and Terry Janis - Niibi Center who is working with White Earth so that planning for Judge Wahwassuck to present at a Conference for White Earth in June 2024 regarding implementation of traditional law into their judicial system and other governmental operations. Extensive conversation occurred to inform Judge Wahwassuck on the nature of the TA request and conference needs as well as the history leading up to this request.

Conference Updates and Logistics:
Location: Shooting Star Casino, Mahnomen, MN
Draft Agenda was reviewed. They will need materials at least 1 week before the conference.
Key information: Have been focused on language revitalization and rights of nature, there has to be deeper understanding of Anishinaabe law and how that can play a larger role; the conference is not strictly focused on Tribal Courts, but Chief Judge is very dedicated to the effort and
will be primary focus at the conference but not the only focus.
