4/22/24 TTA Needs Assessment meeting conducted via zoom following submission by Prairie Island of TTA Needs Assessment.
In attendance, was also our project partner NAICJA: Elton Naswood, Johanna Farmer, and Mary Rodriguez ; and from Prairie Island: Deb English -Tribal Court Administrator; Cody Mattison - Contract Specialist within Grants Dept; Ben Rosaasen - Strategic Planner/Administrator.

Needs Assessment: Team reviewed all of the answers on the TTA Needs Assessment and asked clarifying questions to get more information on specific needs, training, resources that would be helpful, current status of project goals, and planning. Team will get together to come up with a work plan and/or have an additional meeting to follow-up.

TTA Needs Assessment areas for priority focus: Muli-jurisdictional response/collaborations; intertribal response/collaboration; Data collection and information sharing strategies; Tribal code and policy development; Training Tribal justice professionals (judges, clerks, administrators, etc.
Court Security.; Data Management; Developing Self-Help websites; Legal Aid Services; Establishing Peacemaking/Traditional Court Program
Circle Keeping and Peacemaking Facilitator Training; Establishing other RJ systems, processes, practices, alternatives to incarceration.

Webinar/Podcasts: Tribal Courts (development and implementation, enhancement of programs, pro-se information; Implementation of enhanced authorities and provisions under the Tribal Law and Order Act (TLOA) and the Violence Against Women (VAWA) Reauthorization Act of 2022; Traditional Forums (Example: Circle Keeping and Peacemaker Facilitator Training, Tribal Codes for Peacemaking

Publications: traditional forums: Tribal Courts (manuals, guides); Pre-Trial Services; Implementation of enhanced authorities and provisions under the Tribal Law and Order Act (TLOA) and the Violence Against Women (VAWA) Reauthorization Act of 2022

Preferred TTA Method: on-site; regional trainings; video conference; teleconference

Resources Shared: Requested resources on several topics including manuals for clerks and administrators and data management, shared upcoming training through NAICJA and Webinar information
