Founding States
In December, staff from the CSG Justice Center continued recruitment and onboarding efforts. CSG Justice Center staff and staff from Recidiviz conducted user experience conversations with representatives from corrections departments in several states including Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Montana, and New Hampshire to get feedback on the Publisher dashboards being built for corrections departments. The team also continued conversations with vendors including SecurManage and StepMobile.
CSG Justice Center staff also continued recruiting in new states, including meetings in Maryland with the Maryland Transportation Authority Police; New York with the New York Police Department Strategic Initiative Bureau; and
Å"?????? Tennessee with stakeholders from Shelby County including the District Attorney?s Office, Innovate Memphis, and the Justice Innovation Lab.
Several agencies opted in to Justice Counts in December including the Osage County, MO, Prosecuting Attorney?s Office; the Clay Couty, MO, Sheriff?s Office; the Seattle, WA, Police Department; and the North Liberty, IA, Police Department.
In Iowa, CSG Justice Center staff met with several stakeholders including the chief jail inspector to discuss available jails data; the Polk County Attorney?s Office for an onboarding call; and with the Iowa County Attorney Association and the Iowa State Association of Counties to discuss prosecution data and recruitment.
In Louisiana, CSG Justice Center staff met with the East Baton Rouge Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to establish goals and plan for agency onboarding.
In Missouri, CSG Justice Center staff met with the Osage County Prosecuting Attorney?s Office and the Clay County Sheriff?s Office, who both opted in, and conducted an onboarding session with the University of Missouri Police Department.
In Montana, CSG Justice Center staff conducted two pre-onboarding sessions with the Lewis and Clark County Jails and the Montana Department of Corrections.
In Ohio, CSG Justice Center staff met with Volunteers of Ohio & Indiana to provide a project update. The team also met with SecurManage to ensure the data aggregation process was moving efficiently.
In Washington, CSG Justice Center staff met with the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys to provide a project overview and conducted a first onboarding call with Thurston County Public Defense.
Implementation Grant States
In Arizona, CSG Justice Center staff scheduled several meetings for a January site visit to Pinal and Coconino Counties.
In North Carolina, CSG Justice Center staff worked with the North Carolina Criminal Justice Analysis Center to review recently shared law enforcement data and troubleshoot data questions from the Justice Counts coordinator. The team also pitched the idea of North Carolina co-presenting at the 2024 IACP Tech conference in Charlotte, NC.
In Oregon, CSG Justice Center staff met with staff from the Springfield Police Department to provide a project overview. CSG Justice Center staff also worked with staff from the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission to troubleshoot an onboarding question.
In Wisconsin, CSG Justice Center staff worked with staff from the Wisconsin Department of Justice to review data in Publisher and discuss the definition options.
Metrics
In December, CSG Justice Center staff worked with staff from Measures for Justice and the National Center for State Courts to compile and respond to feedback from the members of the Judicial Focus Group.
Partners
In December, Justice Counts collaborated with partners to create new recruitment deliverables for 2024. The team discussed promotional efforts, conference appearances, and providing valuable contacts from individuals within the Justice Counts Founding states.
