Founding States
In October, staff from the CSG Justice Center continued recruitment and onboarding efforts. CSG Justice Center staff began implementing the strategy to develop partnerships with vendors including SecurManage, StepMobile, and the Ohio Community Supervision System through exploratory conversations with the vendors as well as their customers to understand the steps necessary to build these relationships. CSG Justice Center staff are also working on building out templates to support the onboarding process and recruiting in new states including meetings in San Diego with the San Diego County Office of Evaluation, Performance and Analytics, and the San Diego District Attorney and conversations with the Philadelphia District Attorney?s Office; a member of the Rhode Island Criminal Justice Policy Board; the Shelby County, TN, District Attorney?s Office; Harris County, TX, Pretrial Services and the Texas Appleseed; and the Utah Indigent Defense Commission and the Utah Association of Counties. CSG Justice Center staff also met with the Springfield (MA) Police Department, which resulted in an opt-in. CSG Justice Center staff also worked with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections to add some of their data in Publisher and provided a Justice Counts overview to the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, which resulted in an opt-in.
In Iowa, CSG Justice Center staff met the Department of Corrections to work through dashboard ideas and designs and to gain contacts for an upcoming site visit and also met with the Iowa State Public Defender to plan for onboarding. While on site in Iowa, CSG Justice Center met with the Polk County Sheriff?s Office, the Iowa chief jail inspector, and the Johnson County Sheriff?s Office to provide project overviews and updates, and also met with and received opt-ins from the Polk County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and the Iowa Board of Parole. CSG Justice Center staff presented Justice Counts to the Iowa Jail Committee.??
In Indiana, Cass County entered data in Publisher for nearly all of the metrics in all of the sectors. CSG Justice Center staff also met with Carroll County Community Corrections to prepare for onboarding, and also met with Miami County Probation and Parole, who opted in. ?
In Louisiana, CSG Justice Center staff met with the East Baton Rouge Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, who opted in and are working on a resolution to make Louisiana a Founding State.
In Montana, CSG Justice Center staff connected with the Montana State Legislature and planned for an upcoming site visit. CSG Justice Center staff also met with the Lewis and Clark County Department of Criminal Justice Services to provide a project overview, which resulted in an opt-in.
In Missouri, CSG Justice Center staff conducted onboarding sessions with Benton County Prosecuting Attorney?s Office and Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney?s Office.
In New Mexico, CSG Justice Center staff met with the Administrative Office of the Courts to highlight the API work completed by the Recidiviz team, which allowed for 10 years? worth of criminal case filing data to be successfully uploaded into the staging side of Publisher. CSG Justice Center staff also met with the New Mexico Law Office of the Public Defender to discuss the data upload process to facilitate future onboarding.
In Ohio, CSG Justice Center staff conducted onboarding with Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility, Delaware County Sheriff?s Office, STAR Community Justic Center, the Community Corrections Association, Eastern Ohio Corrections Center, and MonDay Community Correctional Institution. CSG Justice Center also caught up with the Fairfield County Sheriff?s Office, provided a project overview to Talbert House, and received an opt-in from the Ohio Department of Public Safety?s Office of Criminal Justice Services.
Implementation Grant States
In Arizona, CSG Justice Center staff followed up with agencies in Pima County to plan for onboarding and connect with stakeholders in other counties to begin additional recruitment efforts.
In North Carolina, CSG Justice Center staff worked with the North Carolina Criminal Justice Analysis Center to create an awareness and engagement strategy for the state. CSG Justice Center staff also met with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections to provide a project overview, which resulted in them opting in.
In Georgia, CSG Justice Center staff met with the Strategic Partnerships Manager at Microsoft. Microsoft has a Justice Reform Initiative in Fulton County, Georgia, and the team discussed future possibilities of collaboration.
In Oregon, CSG Justice Center staff worked with staff from the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission to set up an SFTP and identify data that the agency can start entering in Publisher. CSG Justice Center staff are also planning for an upcoming site visit in November.
In Wisconsin, CSG Justice Center staff and staff from the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) agreed to move forward with entering data from Wisconsin DOJ dashboards into Publisher while Wisconsin DOJ works on building out their own internal infrastructure to allow for future data sharing with additional datasets.
Metrics
In October, the Courts and Pretrial Subcommittee met and agreed upon a set a metrics to complete their slate. Subcommittee members who were unable to join the meeting were able to provide their votes separately. CSG Justice Center staff worked with staff from Measures for Justice and the National Center for State Courts to put together materials for the Judicial Focus Group to consider the results of the subcommittee.
Partners
In October, CSG Justice Center staff facilitated a roundtable discussion at the International Association of Chiefs of Police annual conference that was attended by more than 25 representatives from different law enforcement agencies across the country. CSG Justice Center staff also presented virtually during the National Governor?s Association Criminal Justice Policy Advisory Network Briefing which had 24 attendees from 7 different states as well as to the National District Attorney?s Association on a webinar with 11 offices represented in the audience.
