In September, staff from the CSG Justice Center continued recruitment and onboarding efforts. CSG Justice Center staff have been working on a project-wide strategy for interacting with vendors to develop relationships and start working toward Justice Counts integrations, starting with vendors who have already opted in. This work began with community corrections vendor Correct Tech. CSG Justice Center staff continued their recruitment efforts by meeting with researchers in California to learn more about the California criminal justice landscape; meeting with supervision agency Community Solutions Inc., which provides supervision services in California, Connecticut, and Delaware; meeting with Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission to demonstrate Justice Counts Publisher; and meeting with 6W Community Corrections in Minnesota, the Shelby County, Tennessee District Attorney?s Office, and the Utah Department of Corrections to provide project overviews.
In Iowa, CSG Justice Center staff met with the Polk County Attorney?s Office to continue data configuration efforts.
In Louisiana, CSG Justice Center staff presented at the National Association of Pretrial Services Conference. While in Louisiana, CSG Justice Center staff also met with the New Orleans Parish District Attorney?s Office, the New Orleans Public Defender?s Office, and the New Orleans Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to introduce them to Justice Counts and encourage them to opt in.
In Missouri, CSG Justice Center staff met with the Office of Research, Planning and Process Improvement from the Missouri Department of Corrections to workshop ideas for future dashboards and discuss outreach strategies for other state agencies.?
In New Mexico, CSG Justice Center staff worked through data configuration with the Law Office of the Public Defender and also contacted the New Mexico Sentencing Commission to encourage them to begin configuration.
In Ohio, CSG Justice Center staff met with staff from Franklin County?s Office of Justice Policy and Programs, the Ohio Public Defender?s Office, STAR Community Justice Center, Northwest Community Corrections Center, Case Western University, the Community Corrections Association, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, and the Franklin County Public Defender all with the goal of furthering collaborative efforts and answering questions regarding data sharing strategies. CSG Justice Center staff also conducted onboarding sessions with the Delaware County Sheriff?s Office and the MonDay Community Correctional Institute. Lastly, CSG Justice Center staff contacted several other Ohio agencies to begin the onboarding process and to encourage more regular data sharing and received an opt-in from the Department of Public Safety?s Office of Criminal Justice Services.
In Pennsylvania, CSG Justice Center staff worked with staff from the Department of Corrections to begin data configuration and enter five years of population data into Publisher. Additionally, CSG Justice Center staff met with the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania to provide a project overview and identify potential ways to collaborate.
In Washington, CSG Justice Center staff continued engagement efforts in Thurston County, including meeting with a state representative, the prosecuting attorney, and representatives from the county government, with the goal of encouraging the Board of Commissioners to sign on to participate in Justice Counts.
Implementation Grant States
In Arizona, CSG Justice Center staff traveled with staff from ACJC to Pima County to meet with the Pima County Public Defense Services, Pima County Superior Court, the Pima County Sheriff?s Office, the Tucson Police Department, Pima County Attorney?s Office, and agency representatives from the town of Sahaurita. The Office of Public Defense Services, the sheriff?s department, and the county attorney?s office all opted in to Justice Counts, and the Tucson Police Department intends to in the near future.
In Georgia, CSG Justice Center staff met with the Georgia Judicial Council Administrative Office of the Courts to configure metrics. CSG Justice Center staff also met with the Fulton County Superior Court and? Georgia district 10 court administrator to discuss implementation plans and strategies.
In Illinois, Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) and CSG Justice Center staff discussed data sharing strategies in anticipation of entering data for supervision and courts and pretrial sectors.
In North Carolina, CSG Justice Center staff worked with the North Carolina Criminal Justice Analysis Center to upload historical law enforcement data.
In Oregon, CSG Justice Center staff worked with staff from the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission to set up an SFTP and identify data that the agency can start entering into Publisher.
In Wisconsin, CSG Justice Center staff and staff from the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) met with staff from the Wisconsin Legislative Council who learned about Justice Counts through the focus group that occurred in August. CSG Justice Center staff provided a project overview, and staff from Wisconsin DOJ discussed plans for implementation in the state over the next year.
Metrics
In September, CSG Justice Center staff worked with staff from Measures for Justice to hold individual calls with subcommittee members who were unable to attend scheduled subcommittee meetings. They also worked with staff from the National Center for State Courts to develop materials and schedule a meeting of the Courts and Pretrial Subcommittee to take place in October.
Partners
In September, CSG Justice Center staff presented at the National Association of Pretrial Service Agencies and also worked with several other partners, including the National District Attorney?s Association, the National Legal Aid & Defenders Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police, to plan for future conference appearances.
