FY23 Qtr 3&4; FY24 Qtr 1 TTA Summary

Introductory Call with Kari on 7/6/23 as part of FY22 Grantee Outreach. Indicated that their program was interested in being connected with another deflection site, particularly one that serves a rural area. Interested in learning from other sites about how to encourage engagement among partners and community. CHJ team to provide informational resources, work with Gunnison team to develop criteria for the site they'd like to partner with.

9/5 - CHJ staff sent case study and informational resources as a follow-up to ongoing conversations about Gunnison County team's interest in exploring new law-enforcement centered approaches to their existing deflection/diversion initiative. CHJ staff working with Gunnison County team leadership to facilitate connection with other deflection sites with similar demographic makeup.

11/29/23- CHJ staff scheduled follow-up call with Kari and team to discuss their program's progress. Kari explained that they are still trying to expand their existing program to serve adult clients (their current deflection/diversion services centers on juveniles), but they are encountering challenges finding an entity/department that is able to house this expansion of the program effectively. Local hospitals, health and human services departments identified as entities that might be a good fit for this role, Gunnison team will reach out and see if they are able to build that relationship.

Check-in email sent to grantee 12/5/23: Sent a check-in email to the team with several resources, including the following: · Free online deflection training, which includes information on the science of addiction and recovery, motivational interviewing, and the application of these concepts while deflecting individuals with SUDs: The Deflection Conversation Framework: A Community Engagement Tool for First Responders · Peer-to-peer learning and hybrid mentorship opportunities with deflection initiatives across the country through the COSSUP First Responder Deflection Mentoring Initiative, featuring the following new mentor sites: o Hero Help Addiction and Behavioral Health Unit o Stanly County EMS Community Paramedic Division o Newark Community Street Team Overdose Response Program · NEW!
