Pilot Project:
In December, WADOC reported to CSG Justice Center staff that their GAM was approved on November 3,
2023, to continue the community-based program until the Domestic Violence Court is implemented by the state legislature. WADOC project staff met with the housing vendor and WA DOC’s legal department on December 7 to discuss the best way to contract with the vendor. The legal department has concerns aboutexecuting a direct contract with the housing vendor and the liability for the housing offered. In this meeting, they will discuss the possibility of not making the program and DOC liable for housing. WADOC has finalized their contract with the treatment provider Resident Advantage, and the grant program will cover the cost for up to six months. WADOC currently has only one staff member reviewing referrals and completing assessments and intakes for participants, which is why the participant count is low for the program. Once the other staff member returns, they will both have an individual caseload. The program has 14 participants, with each participant referred to Relationship Advantage to register for the mandatory domestic violence course.
Technology Tool:
In December, Recidiviz and CSG Justice Center staff received feedback from WADOC on a project plan for the technology component of the grant and worked to incorporate that feedback into the project plan and approval memo. Additionally, Recidiviz internally discussed the best way to staff the project.
