The Center provides a wide range of support in response to requests for assistance, including sharing publications, research, planning guides, and other resources; and connects practitioners with peers at community courts around the country. This reporting period, the Center’s training and technical assistance team responded to nine requests for assistance and assisted practitioners from a variety of locations. The team assisted a counseling and recovery center in Lakewood, WA with automating the Criminal Court Assessment Tool (CCAT). Technical assistance was also provided to a court in Pompano Beach, FL regarding data tracking; a community justice needs assessment was done for the Kansas City Mayor’s Office, and the Washington State Center for Court Research was given resources on quality-of-life assessments. Center staff met virtually with a leader from the Office of the San Francisco Public Defender to discuss strategies for implementing pre-arraignment diversion programming across the city’s criminal justice system. Center staff also met with a presiding judge in Las Vegas, NV, in person to discuss the community justice model and provide resources. A court in Tacoma, WA was given resources on response matrices and assistance around their implementation planning. Finally, Center staff assisted PhD and graduate students at Harvard and New York University regarding the community-centered justice model and the future of community service. Many of these inquiries were also redirected to appropriate subject matter experts.
