The North Carolina Governor's Crime Commission and Department of Public Safety were assigned to conduct research on existing programs, protocols, and best practices to address hate crimes in the state. They requested information and resources to tackle hate crimes comprehensively. As a response, NCJA provided them with a detailed list of resources on how to prevent hate crimes and how different providers such as law enforcement, schools, and community members can address them. The guide emphasized the importance of time in prosecuting and handling hate crimes. Additionally, resources were provided for victims of hate crimes, including palm cards with relevant information.
