The Volunteers of America Residential Reentry Center Casa Alborada (VoA-PR) in San Juan,
Puerto Rico requested a review of their PREA risk assessment instrument secondary to feedback
received in the facility?s most recent PREA compliance audit. More specifically, the auditor
recommended that the instrument assign relative weighting to assessment instrument variables as
opposed to the instrument?s current structure of assigning equal weight to each assessment
instrument variable. During this technical assistance project, The Moss Group, Inc. (TMG) will
assist the agency in assessing the instrument based on this recommendation and providing
feedback on how the instrument could be revised. Policy, procedure, and training revisions will
also be evaluated, if applicable.
Orginigal Request: Greetings, we have been PREA certified (3 times) for the ten nine years. and in the last review, the auditor recommended that we update our initial assessment tool from a yes or no response to a value score system. During the PREA national training and ACA PREA training, a speaker recommended I write for assistance on converting the document.
