The NRTAC team hosted the eighth investigations roundtable, which included investigators and forensic laboratory
personnel from various CGIC sites. This interactive Zoom roundtable aimed to strengthen the CGIC investigations and forensic laboratory communities of practice. The roundtable centered on the role of Forensic Laboratories in a CGIC and how to make processes more efficient while maintaining accreditation. For this roundtable, Lucinda Lopes-Phelan from the Connecticut Division of Scientific Services, along with Mike Beddow and Ben Swanholm from the City of Phoenix Police Department’s Crime Lab, were invited to speak about how they were effective in changing their lab processes to better support their CGICs and decrease National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) turnaround times. NRTAC subject matter expert Jessica Ellefritz facilitated the engagement. Sixty-four attendees from 25 different agencies and organizations participated.
