Between May and September 2023, CHJ will be holding five grantee cohort focus area calls on the five critical elements of deflection, a framework developed by CHJ (https://www.cossapresources.org/Content/Documents/Articles/CHJ_TASC_Cri…). Each call will focus on one element and will feature 2-3 practitioners in the field discussing how their program implements the specific critical element.
June focused on Critical Element #1, description below:
Description: Critical Element #1 Partnership Building
This call will provide an overview into why collaboration is so important to planning, implementing, and sustaining a successful and sustainable first responder deflection (FRDs) program. It will also cover the importance of hiring a dedicated coordinator or manager who can oversee all components of the program, and holding regular meetings to strengthen stakeholder relationships, provide transparency, and exchange information. Presenters from Hamilton County, OH and Menomonie, WI will discuss the role of partnership building and collaboration in the creation of their deflection programs.
