The United States Marshals Service (USMS) requested a presenter to participate in their Annual Detention Contract Monitor (DCM) Workshop (Workshop) held on July 10, 2023 in Austin Texas. The following topics were provided: Understand USMS’s relationship to jails, lockups, and court holding facilities, PREA terms “sexual abuse” and “sexual harassment,” detainee reporting avenues, immediate post-incident response, types of investigations and investigative reports, PREA LGBTI/GNC-related terms and definitions, understanding increased risk of victimization for LGBTI detainees, PREA Standards regarding LGBTI/GNC detainees and provide a Q & A period.
