Between May and September 2023, CHJ will be holding five grantee cohort focus area calls on the five critical elements of deflection, a framework developed by CHJ (https://www.cossapresources.org/Content/Documents/Articles/CHJ_TASC_Cri…). Each call will focus on one element and will feature 2-3 practitioners in the field discussing how their program implements the specific critical element.
May focused on Critical Element #5, description below:
Description: Critical Element #5 Program Evaluation
Would you like to know more about how your deflection initiative is impacting your community? In this Focus Area Cohort Call on Critical Element #5 Program Evaluation, we will explore ways that deflection projects without formal evaluators can assess the impact of their work and use the information to strengthen their deflection initiative. Two experienced deflection evaluators will share their perspectives on what projects can gain from evaluation and approaches that work for projects without evaluation funding.
Presenters:
Jessica Reichert, MS, Manager, Center for Justice Research and Evaluation at the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority
Sean Varano, Professor of Criminal Justice at Roger Williams University
