Questions?

The drop in call covered a few topics but was mostly spent discussing the upcoming Knowledge Lab Convening. Staff from the CSG Justice Center went over the agenda, reimbursement process, and other details prior to the conference. The sites that were in attendance provided the updates on their programming below. Houston had a number of city funded projects (ARPA) so they are going through their first desk review. It has been a bit of a headache for them and it has been slow going. Denver had 50 clinicians with all the law enforcement agencies in the area. STAR is in its 3rd year and their walk in clinic is also serving a lot of different folks. Arlington is still looking for a part time/off hours clinician. They had some positive press coverage and giving ride alongs to some of their local stakeholders. Portland's community services unit is on the call today and will be joining us in Denver. They hired 2 new staff on the Mental Health (MH) side and training them. Portland hopes to be fully staffed by end of June. They recently moved a big encampment, an ongoing process. They have a new chief of police so they are working on some new policies. Salt Lake City expanded the social work staff to 18 but afternoons and weekends are still hard for them to find staff. Their director is leaving to go home to Australia so they will get a new director soon. Bexar County is still working to expand the SMART units and get some more staff. The University of Florida is working on the co-responder team and they are onboarding 1.5 positions right now. They are working on a robust training program for the clinicians, officers, and team training. Harris County Jail is still working on expanding the competency restoration. It is very popular program went from 20 to 50 beds and a 20 bed transitional unit. CORE was recognized by commissioners court and is still expanding. Miami-Dade did not have real updates. Los Angeles has 2 new clinicians to work graveyard shift, which was crucial because between 2-6am they did not have any. Their MEU was given the go ahead to expand the whole unit. Madison County has a new sheriff, new jail, and is moving over 600 inmates. This is a slow process. The new jail has a 20 bed mental health unit. Tennessee is putting out funding for EBP in re-entry/jail stuff. They have got 2 SUD clinicians doing re-entry as well, medication management, and such. They are funded to build a new CSU in Dire County, as well as getting their new diversion center to accept clients from Henderson County. They also went to a pre-trial conference.
