In June, staff from the CSG Justice Center expanded their efforts to develop relationships and plan for implementation across grantee states. This included site visits to Illinois and Oregon, as well as virtual meetings with stakeholders in Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
In Arizona, the team officially kicked off Justice Counts implementation with a webinar for criminal justice agencies across the state. Staff from the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission (AZJC), the CSG Justice Center, and BJA presented on Justice Counts and the benefits it can provide to agencies who participate. The webinar was recorded, and a copy of the recording will be posted on the AZJC website. Additionally, staff from the CSG Justice Center worked with staff from AZJC to identify goals for the next several months, including identifying which counties to prioritize for implementation and how to map out the universe of Justice Counts metrics.
CSG Justice Center staff traveled to Oregon for two days of meetings with staff from the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission (ORCJC). During those meetings, they discussed overall goals for Justice Counts implementation, mapped out the data landscape in Oregon, and developed a timeline for deliverables. CSG Justice Center staff also met with representatives from the Oregon District Attorneys Association, the Oregon State SheriffÕs Association, and the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training to give them an overview of the project and discuss challenges and goals for implementation. After the site visit, CSG Justice Center staff received an invitation to present to the Oregon District AttorneyÕs Association annual conference in November. CSG Justice Center staff also worked with staff from ORCJC to plan for outreach to other sectors and to get staff from ORCJC credentialed for Justice Counts publisher so that they can begin sharing data.
In Illinois, CSG Justice Center staff met with staff from the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority to plan out the first year of activities, including a future kick-off event with stakeholders, and engaged in a data mapping exercise.
CSG Justice Center staff also worked with staff from the Wisconsin Department of Justice to start planning for implementation and mapping out the next three years of activity and plan for a future site visit. CSG Justice Center staff also worked with the staff from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety to create a visual data map for the state and plan for a site visit in July. CSG Justice Center staff also connected with RTI International to update them on Justice Counts progress in North Carolina. CSG Justice Center staff also created a data map for the Georgia courts, completed a first draft of the Planning and Implementation Guide, and worked to plan a site visit in August.
