Conviction Integrity Webinar - May 30, 2023. This event was part of the Enhancing Conviction Integrity through Forensics webinar series. Presenters summarized the right to confrontation under Crawford v. WA and its progeny and emphasized forfeiture by wrongdoing as a tool to hold suspects accountable when witnesses are unavailable for trial due to the suspectÕs wrongful conduct. Participants left better able to: work with law enforcement and advocates to reduce opportunities for intimidation, educate victims on potential intimidation, preserve evidence of intimidation to help hold the suspect accountable (regardless of whether the victim testifies), and litigate motions to admit evidence under the doctrine of forfeiture by wrongdoing.
