Sharing correctional information across the justice system, or between levels of government, is a challenge in many states. As part of NGA's Policy Academy on Cross Boundary Corrections Exchange, teams from the selected states, including North Carolina, convened in Washington, DC to hear about best practices for sharing correctional information and refine strategic plans begun during the policy academy kickoff meeting held in June. Speakers at the meeting shared lessons learned from previous information sharing projects, including Pennsylvania's work under the GRA/JRA Policy Academy, and provided strategies for successful implementation of state strategic plans. The meeting also included peer to peer networking for states to learn from each other, and facilitated team time. The goal of this meeting was to refine state plans and help states prepare for the next steps of their projects.
