FY 23 & FY24 Qtr1 Deflection TTA: Lafourche Parish Sheriffs Office, LA Summary
Grantee submitted a TA request for assistance in developing a post-overdose handout for individuals and their families. CHJ contacted requestor, provided directions to access the Deflection Resource Library and specific examples of post-OD outreach materials. As part of CHJ's intensive TTA, individual calls will be scheduled with new FY22 grantees. Initial introductory calls included discussion about: the grantees project and deflection initiative; identifying top priorities the grantee have for their program over the next 3-6 months; and discussion to determine at what level of readiness is the grantee’s program currently at to implement these priorities.
Intro call occurred 4/27/23. Lafourche has a robust program plan in place with an extensive project management plan. CHJ sent resources on Naloxone Plus and Officer intervention Case Studies, CCBHCs, the OFR page on the COSSAP website, and the Deflection resource website. We will also be sending them information on Supportive release centers and Living rooms/recovery centers.

Initial introductory calls included discussion about: the grantees project and deflection initiative; identifying top priorities the grantee have for their program over the next 3-6 months; and discussion to determine at what level of readiness is the grantee’s program currently at to implement these priorities. We had a virtual meeting with the team on Thursday, April 27. The meeting went over the scheduled hour time slot and was productive. The Lafourche team provided us with a large amount of information on their program, including their action plan. On 5/1, CHJ sent resources on Naloxone Plus and Officer intervention Case Studies, CCBHCs, the OFR page on the COSSAP website, and the Deflection resource website. We will also be sending them information on Supportive release centers and Living rooms/recovery centers.
5/31 CHJ has provided Lafourche with several pieces of training and resources. We encouraged the team to meet with another colleague to discuss supportive release centers. Lafourche would like to wait until later to have this meeting. I sent them an email letting them know they are always welcome to reach out to us if they need anything else.
