In December, CSG Justice Center staff continued to socialize the guidelines and engage key partners in the field, further develop outreach strategies and project next steps, develop an outline for the technical assistance strategies, and develop draft presentations for the upcoming Correctional Leaders Association (CLA) winter conference.
Throughout the month, the project team continuously met with internal CSG Justice Center colleagues, including the Communications team, to discuss the introductory webinar presentation, the CLA winter conference and American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) regional presentations, webinar Communications plan, review of the self-assessment tool, and further development of the outreach strategy.
On December 8, CSG Justice Center staff held a call with Dr. Heather Tubman-Carbone (Senior Policy Advisor, Bureau of Justice Assistance) to discuss the status of the intro webinar presentation, next steps for supplemental funding, and strategies for further socializing the guidelines. BJA provided guidance on review and approval processes moving forward. Based on this call, BJA asked the CSG Justice Center to (1) develop an external-facing one-pager about the technical assistance opportunity, (2) develop a more detailed internal document about the technical assistance strategy, (3) update the talking points, and (4) share drafts of the upcoming presentation PPTs. Additionally, the introductory webinar will introduce the technical assistance opportunity and will take place at the beginning of March.
CSG Justice Center staff worked on the draft presentation for the CLA winter conference and the more detailed internal document about the technical assistance strategy. During the week of December 12, the communications plan was updated and shared again for BJA review. The CLA winter conference presentation draft was shared with BJA to begin the review process. And the updated talking points and internal document about the technical assistance strategy were also shared.
On December 19, CSG Justice Center staff held a call with Dr. Tubman-Carbone to discuss the drafts shared and next steps. Dr. Tubman-Carbone provided policy approval for the PPT and said she would move it forward for a BJA Communications team review. Dr. Tubman-Carbone approved the plan for the technical assistance strategy, which means the team can now finish drafting the external-facing one-pager and other materials associated with the technical assistance plan.
