CAWS North Dakota a coalition made of member programs working on DV/SA prevention and intervention is holding a Sexual Assault Institute on Sept. 28-29 and would like to have a segment on PREA. JDI will present at the conference. The conference attendees include
representatives from the North Dakota Department of Corrections, local jails, victim advocates, and allied professionals. The institute will feature three topics, one of which is PREA. CAWS has requested two PREA-specific sessions. The first, an overview of the PREA standards, and the second, on support for advocates working with incarcerated survivors.
JDI Program Director Kris Mady and Program Officer Jamila Cervantes will facilitate the two sessions at the CAWS Institute. Mx. Mady and Mx. Cervantes are highly experienced as advocates working with incarcerated survivors. The first session will run 60 minutes and the second 90 minutes. Mx. Mady will consult with CAWS as needed to ensure content meets the needs of intended participants. This may include meeting with a North Dakota-based advocate who may co-present during the second session
