This was the second session of the community of practice: Behavioral Health Criminal Case Processing:Exploring Person-Centered Justice in the Courts. This community of practice is being coordinated with the National Center for State Courts. The learning objectives of this session, Necessary Case Processing Data and Performance Measures, on July 29, 2021, were to have participants understand different types of court data and performance measures that can be used toimprove case processing, identify at least 1 concrete case processing-related question their court wants to solveusing data, and consider different tiers/continuums of data capacity and how data collection/analysissystems could be improved. The session began with a review of the previous session and the participants' homework assignment, which was to find out who in their jurisidcitions had access to the necessary data needed to achieve their identified policy change. Rachael Druckhammer from the CSG Justice Center research division and Andrea Miller from NCSC then shared a presentation, Using Data to Make Decisions and the participating teams discussed their jurisdictions continuums/tiers of available data that related to case processing of people with behavioral health needs.
