In the previous grant period, NCIA learned that the majority of CI programs were not tracking post-release employment and no CI programs were tracking post-release employment for PIECP offenders separately from their other (traditional) CI offenders. NCIA is working with the larger PIE programs to determine how this can be done with the hopes of developing some type of system that can be replicated throughout the PIECP field.

NCIA's PIECP Technical Consultant Barbara Auerbach completed interviews to the certificate holders identified as tracking post-release employment in a survey conducted by NCIA in early 2015. Interview summaries are being written and a full report will be forthcoming prior to September 30, 2015,
NCIA, in conjunction with its PIECP Technical Consultant conducted follow up interviews and emails with PIECP certificate holders and completed an update to the 2013 PIECP Post-Release Summation report for BJA. This report will be appended to the PIECP Semi-Annual Report on the GMS.
During this reporting period, NCIA conducted a kickoff meeting with its executive director, PIECP grant manager and senior technical consultant to develop the specific tasks and timeline relative to this deliverable. The tasks and timelines were finalized during this initial meeting. This was the same meeting where NCIA met to also outline tasks and timeline related to the progress report update (separate deliverable).
During this reporting period, NCIA Staff conducted two meetings and began outreach to the field in order to update the Post-Release Summation for 2016. NCIA's Grant Manager conducted outreach to the two Correctional Industry programs who indicated in the 2015 survey/outreach that they were attempting to create a system where they could track post-release employment for PIE separately from their program's 'traditional' CI offenders. The hope is that if a system is developed by either Certificate Holder, that it could then be replicated throughout the PIECP community. NCIA's final report on this is being written and will be published with the closing report of this grant on April 30, 2017.
During this reporting period, NCIA staff completed the outreach to the two PIECP certificate holders who indicated they were developing post-release tracking systems to track PIECP offenders separately from traditional CI offenders. NCIA finalized the report and will be submitting it in its GMS reporting.
