In June 2014, the Center contracted with Yvonne Segars, Esq. and Michael Loeffler, Esq. to conduct a full-day training session with justice stakeholders in Massachusetts. Participants included the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Chief Justice Paula Carey, Trial Court Administrator Harry Spence, the Statewide Enhancement Grant Steering Committee, agency heads for the Office of the State's Attorney and Public Defender, and assigned counsel from drug court throughout the state. The event provided information on national standards for drug courts and addressed the role of counsel in drug courts. The experts also conducted breakouts by role to address issues of confidentiality, ethics, staffing, and sanctions and incentives.
