TTA services will include:
Developing training and/or educational materials for stakeholders regarding Restorative Justice, its efficacy, its limitations, and key considerations in the creation of a Restorative Justice Program.
Assisting in formation and development of local collaborative which will guide and inform community consideration for operation of a Restorative Justice program in Prince William County
Assisting TTA Client in developing data strategies and measures to evaluate a Restorative Justice Program.
Creating relevant written materials related to the above-described objectives.
Communicating regularly with the TTA Client on project progress, needs, and assessments.
Organizing, hosting, and engaging in meetings (via phone, email, and/or video) with TTA Client, other relevant stakeholder groups, subject matter experts, and, when appropriate representatives of BJA in furtherance of the goals outlined in the MOU.
If necessary, recruiting and retaining the services of additional subject matter experts to aid in the completion of the work outlined under this MOU. Such additional experts would be provided without cost to the TTA Client.

Update (July-December 2021):This reporting period included on going meetings with the local collaborative and representatives from the National Center for Restorative Justice at University of Vermont Law School. In preparation for a January training event, all members of the local collaborative were provided copies of 2 foundational restorative justice texts, The Little Book on Restorative Justice and Until We Reckon. We hosted regular meetings on the following dates and topics:
July 16 – PWC memo of understanding discussion
Sep 28 – PWC/NCRJ RJ pre-meeting – discussion on future meeting content
Nov 4 – PWC Large Group Restorative Justice Meeting – intro meeting among applicants/stakeholders/trainers
Dec 9 – meeting w/NCRJ re: PWC status
Held virtual trainings on 1/18/22; 5/12/2022; 6/3/2022; 6/30/2022 and continued having regular communication with the stakeholders including increasing the network of resources around implementing a restorative justice model in juridictions.
On June 24, 2022, we held a webinar with NYU regarding Restorative Justice and Domestic Violence Crimes. In addition to client and community stakeholders, this webinar was open to the public.
On October 13, 2022 we held a Q&A for client and stakeholders, wherein they had the opportunity to ask questions of experts on RJ from NYU’s Center on Violence Recovery.
Client and some stakeholders were offered a trip to Vermont so PWC could see first-hand how RJ looks – but w/COVID and court schedules, this did not come to fruition.
Client seemed to fizzle out due to court schedules and did not proceed with creating an RJ program in PWC. One struggle of this project was scheduling. The Public Defenders, CWAs & Judge have large dockets and finding a time for webinars when they were available was tough.
Overall, 4 webinars were held, and 2 books were distributed along with various articles/resources.
