Received an email from the current Site Coordinator, Mia Edgerson, noting her departure and listing Susan Dillon as the new point of contact until the position was filled - to which I responded (acknowledging receipt) and asking if Susan had any immediate questions.
Followed up with new point of contact, Susan Dillon to inquire about site successes, any need for assistance, a possible replacement for Mia (former Site Coordinator), possible Sexual Assault Awareness Month activity plans (or if they had any), and ViCAP entries.
Reached out via email to check on status of hiring a new site coordinator, site successes, any challenges, and questions around court proceedings/victim notification. Site responded with information regarding the following: still searching to fill coordinator position; detectives are reviewing more non-CODIS hit cases and they have scheduled bi-weekly meetings of Victim Notification Review MDT to determine whether or not to reach out to victims in each case referred for review; the current target is to resume jury trials in July; they have 30 SAK cases that are deemed “trial ready” and waiting for scheduling; still working on designing the best campaign to launch their Opt-In line to give victims the opportunity to call and check the results of their kit testing within the project and obtain information regarding counseling and other services that are available to them - they believe it will be a community level grass roots approach complimented by some paid advertising.
