Det. Hadley and IB Clerk Bundle – Welcome to the SAKI project! As the TTA provider, we are here to support your site in reaching your SAKI goals. The SAKI TTA website (www.sakitta.org) provides an expanded set of online resources, webinars, and virtual courses to support sexual assault response. Below you will find additional information and links to our webinars, Virtual Academy, and SAKI Toolkit.
Webinars: Sign up for upcoming webinars or watch webinars from the SAKI archive. Presentations feature practitioners and experts with years of experience in current and cold case sexual assault. The webinars cover investigations, forensic testing, prosecution strategies, victim notification, the neurobiology of trauma, offender research, and more.
Virtual Academy: Choose from five E-Learning Curricula that provide guidance on issues related to unsubmitted sexual assault kits. The courses walk through the importance of SAK testing, the effects of trauma, creating a testing plan, victim notification, cold case investigation and prosecution. Individual modules allow learners to complete trainings at their own pace.
SAKI Toolkit: Explore hands-on resources tailored for practitioners working to improve their community’s response to sexual assault. The SAKI Toolkit contains topics centered around skill development and covers key categories of sexual assault response. Explore resources, save tools to a customizable Briefcase, or create resource sets to share with others.

Core Standards for Sexual Assault Investigations: This document covers practices and procedures that should be undertaken during every sexual assault investigation. It is intended to assist law enforcement investigators and supervisors to ensure that critical steps within the investigative process are addressed and properly documented and that nationally accepted practices are followed.
Cold Case Sexual Assault Investigation Checklist: This simple investigative checklist can be used to organize investigative files. It includes the full range of evidence and information that may be available in a cold case sexual assault. The checklist can be downloaded as a PDF and in modifiable Word format.
Evidence Technicians’ Role in a Multidisciplinary Sexual Assault Response: Evidence technicians can play a critical role within a multidisciplinary sexual assault response team bringing expertise in comprehensive, sustainable sexual assault kit storage and tracking. This brief discusses the importance of evidence technicians and recommendations to fully integrate them into a jurisdictions sexual assault response.

Held call with Flint on March 1st. During call, Jim Markey and John Someridnyke asked about investigative processes and training as well as coordination between all members of the team. Providing training to new ream members was emphasized. Sent site a recommendation to hire a dedicated site coordinator including a resource on site coordinator job description. Provided site with a briefcase on the SAKI Toolkit of recourse for their new detective. Encouraged site to invite their crime laboratory to SART meetings. Worked to schedule next check-in call for April 1st and recommended site be prepared to discuss recommendation for hiring a site coordinator and discuss their goals for the remainder of their SAKI award.
