During the site's MDT Meeting, the head of the SVU said that their CODIS hit reports received from the multiple labs they work with are confusing for the investigators. They are different, and they want to understand how to interpret them.
Paige to organize initially biology/DNA reports explanations. Then, possibly bring in Jim Markey for the investigative follow-up procedure resources.
Paige sent DNA Resources to the site and offered to bring in Amy Jeanguenat, if they would send redacted sample reports for her to review to be sure she can provide what they need.
Denton SAKI, Amy Jeanguenat, and Paige had a call to discuss how they can best review their list of cases to understand what type of testing has been completed including the reports of results that they have.
Amy gave several recommendations for how they can make this process smoother for them. Additionally, they talked about how to train the DPD about how to understand DNA results. They planned around how to bring the Crime Laboratory into their conversations to learn from those agencies.
Denton SAKI reached out to provide an update.
Denton SAKI is hiring a forensic coordinator that will be helping DPD with this issue. Once they are on boarded, we will circle back.
During a Monthly Check-in Call, Mike let Paige know that they had hired their Forensic Lead that would support the Sexual Violence Unit understand more about the CODIS reports and partially tested kits.
