Held call with RTI and Inspector King to discuss the SVD and current work on the SAKI project. Also learned more about the staffing structure. Inspector King noted that following our December check-in and at the advice of Jim Markey, they expanded the search for cases to 1996-2017 and added new search terms resulting in 4,000 eligible cases for investigation (up from the previously reported 2,000).
Hello NYPD SAKI team!
There are a few things to note for this month’s check-in:
• 2021 Assembly of Cities: Registration for the 2021 Assembly of Cities meeting will be coming soon. This year’s event will take place April 27-29th and you all will be allowed to register up to 5 people from your site. I’ve attached the save the date and will be sure to highlight registration once it opens. We’d love for you all to join us.
• Data Request on Serial Offenders: We are interested in learning more about site experiences with identifying serial offenders through SAKI investigations.
o Has NYPD identified serial offenders through SAKI case investigations?
o If so, please provide a brief summary of efforts made in this area or if you have success stories.
• ViCAP
o Does NYPD have a ViCAP point of contact? If so, please provide contact information.
o What challenges or barriers, if any, is your agency experiencing preventing ViCAP entry?
