Hi Rachel,
Happy New Year! I hope you are well and enjoyed a bit of a break over the Holidays, including some safe and socially distanced time with friends and family.
As we enter into the final year of your grant, please remember to reach out for any needs or resources. Please let me know if you would like me, or any of our available subject matter experts, to review any policies or protocols developed as part of your working group meetings.
If you don’t mind also providing an update on your partially tested kits inventory, that would be great! BJA is interested in hearing from all of their sites about their progress on these kits. I know that Maricopa has begun this process, but I wasn’t sure if you had connected with him about it.
How are your outreach materials going? I would love to see them when you send them on to BJA for review and approval!
Anything else to report or other needs?
Finally, see below for an announcement out of IACP.
-Julia
Hi Julia,
All is well! We recently completed DNA testing of all SAKs, including the reviews and profile entries into CODIS. Advanced investigative research remains ongoing for these cases.
The outreach materials are in the final design stage. This process is taking longer than anticipated due to COVID -19 work-related restrictions of our graphic artists.
We connected with Cesar Tirado and the MCAO SAKI working group regarding their future efforts on inventorying partially tested SAKs. After careful consideration, we will not be completing an inventory of partially tested SAKs due to limited resources. With eight months remaining in the grant, our team’s current focus will be on accomplishing the remaining goals and objectives as outlined in the grant. I will keep you posted if any changes occur.
Let me know if you need additional information.
Rachel Puchi
Hi Rachel,
Thanks for the updates. Just a future FYI to you all, IF you do decide to return to the SAKI grant for additional rounds of funding, you will need to either A) come with a partially tested inventory already completed), OR B) apply for a Purpose Area 1 grant with the intention of completing a partially tested inventory using grant funds.
Thanks,
-Julia
