Amanda reached out to Lt. Petti for check-in. As part of check-in, Amanda requested information on site successes, ViCAP entry, SAU Assessment recommendation progress, and FY20 SAKI funding.
Lt. Petti responded with information on connecting with CMPD regarding lawfully owed DNA. Amanda noted that she would send additional information regarding the lawfully owed DNA working group.
Lt. Petti stated he has not yet had time to work on SAU Assessment recommendations.
Using FY20 SAKI funding, FPD plans to hire a civilian investigator. Part of the civilian investigator responsibilities will be entering ViCAP cases. Amanda offered support and resources for ViCAP entry once investigator was on-boarded.
Lt. Petti noted that their FY20 award acceptance has been delayed.
Amanda reached out to FPD to discuss the SAKI Assembly of Cities event. Discussion included ways to engage the FPD site in presentations including having a victim advocate present as part of a session titled, It's about the kits...but it;s not about the kits.
Amanda reached out to check in on successes. Also checked in on status of lawfully owed DNA work with CMPD as well as ViCAP entry. Amanda also asked about SAAM activities and progress towards implementing recommendations from the SAU Assessment.
Lt. Petti responded to email check-in. Stated that they are working with the sheriff's office for collecting lawfully owed DNA. Also noted that they are still trying to hire their civilian investigator who will be tasked with entering cases into ViCAP.
Reached out to Lt. Petti for check-in. As part of check-in, SL asked about site successes and progress on the SAU Assessment recommendations. Also requested an update on collection of lawfully owed DNA and ViCAP entry. SL provided information on the FY2021 SAKI solicitation.
Lt. Petti provided information on an arrest from February 2021. It was noted that in conjunction with CMPD, they held a lawfully owed DNA collection event on May 1, 2021. Approximately 200 letters were sent out to suspects and they collected DNA from 33. Lt. Petti noted they still have not received funding from the FY20 award. Requested any assistance with getting funds released.
Amanda followed up with Lt. Petti and encouraged them to connect with Mila regarding the revised budget. Amanda also offered to connect their grant manager with more experiences SAKI site grant managers for guidance on processes, etc.
Had a check-in with Amy. They received their first CODIS hit on LODNA. She talked about one of the Sheriff's being very involved and wanting to track how that site does compared to others. They're on track to almost double the number of collections from last year.
