The JDI coaches assisted the grantee in coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, providing sample documents, and resources from program development. SCDC continued to work collaboratively with the JDI coaches and actively sought out suggestions and feedback. Given the number and complexity of the deliverables, a secondary task force was created specifically to oversee the development of the peer support program. The task force includes mental health staff, program staff, and victim advocates. Due to challenges related to COVID, the task force opted to eliminate the inmate focus groups in favor of a survey, which was drafted during this reporting period. As the survey continues to be edited and refined, the peer support task force reassessed the vision for the program and ways to ensure its success. Part of these discussions included the possibility of incorporating peer support into existing PREA peer education. JDI coaches continued to emphasize the importance of achievability, particularly as some of the project activities evolve. SCDCs overall challenge is to ensure that the project can be successfully developed and implemented before the end of the grant period.
