During this reporting period, the coaches initiated contact with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections to begin coaching activities. During the initial meeting in early December, the implementation guide and time task plan were introduced. Interim PREA Coordinator Leigha Weber is the main point of contact for this grant with Chris Hagan as support. Ms. Weber is very motivated and has wasted no time in developing the implementation and time task plans. Ms. Weber produces comprehensive drafts for the coaches to review with each iteration building on the feedback from the previous draft. It is anticipated that the implementation and time task plans will be ready for submission to the PMO by the end of January 2021.While there have been no barriers to date, there are a few anticipated barriers on the horizon. First, it is anticipated that the implementation plan and time task plan will be approved before OCFO approves the project budget. Ms. Weber has submitted the revised budget for review and approval and understands that without budget approval or removal of other special conditions, she will not be able to draw down on project funds. The other potential barrier is the Wisconsin hiring process which may take significant time. The project proposed the hiring of a PREA Compliance Officer to work regionally with four facilities. While other project work can proceed to a degree, it is essential that this position be filled in order to make significant implementation progress.
