This was the 3rd session of the Criminal Court Behavioral Health Case Processing Learning Collaborative, which was organized along with the National Center for State Courts (NCSC). The session was conducted via Zoom. The same 9 court-based teams who participated in the first two learning collaborative session participated in this session: Pima County, AZ; Lake County, CO; Douglas County, KS; Cumberland County, ME; Lockport, NY (municipal court); Beaverton, OR; Marion, OR (municipal court); Tarrant County, TX; and multiple sites in New Mexico coordinated through the State Administrative Office of the Courts. Between the last learning collaborative session in August and today's session, each participant team was encouraged to complete a team workplan that was developed by CSG and NCSC, and 6 of the 9 teams completed hour long office hour sessions with CSG and NCSC to discuss and develop their workplans and team next steps. During this session, each team summarized what they discussed during their office hours session and their next steps for implementing changes to their case processing systems. The summaries were broken up by different topics:? improving screenings and assessments, improving information collecting/sharing and collaboration across systems, and developing a specialized behavioral health docket. NCSC staff also provided information about screening and assessment best practices and research. The session concluded by providing information about additional resources available for courts to use to continue to improve their case processing systems for defendants with behavioral health needs.
