This was the 1st session of the Criminal Court Behavioral Health Case Processing Learning Collaborative, which was organized along with the National Center for State Courts (NCSC). The session was conducted via Zoom.? 9 teams representing different court systems from across the country participated in the learning collaborative: Pima County, AZ; Lake County, CO; Douglas County, KS; Cumberland County, ME; Lockport, NY (municipal court); Beaverton, OR; Marion, OR (municipal court); Tarrant County, TX; and multiple sites in New Mexico coordinated through the State Administrative Office of the Courts. The session began with a welcome and introductions by CSG Justice Center staff, NCSC staff, and BJA staff. The group reviewed core concepts for court caseflow processing for defendants with behavioral health needs. The teams were then separated into breakout groups to discuss their team goals and priorities around improving case processing for defendants with behavioral health needs. Each team then reported back to the larger group about what was discussed during their breakout session. Participants were then reminded about the next two learning collaborative sessions in August and September.
