There are 8 active JMHCP grantees in California: Yolo County (FY19), San Luis Obispo (FY18), El Dorado (FY18), Nevada (FY18), Mendocino (FY19), San Francisco (FY 17), Sonoma (FY16), and Sonoma (FY18). This meeting was conducted via a Zoom call. The meeting was held for the CSG Justice Center JMHCP TA providers working with grantees in California to provide updates about their grantee sites, specifically issues related to Covid-19, recent wildfires throughout the state, and for staff to provide information about recent policy updates and changes in California that could potentially affect JMHCP grantees and CSG's TA to these grantees.
An agenda was provided that outlined the plan for the meeting. The group first discussed updates about the current CSG CA projects: DSH Diversion TA, CCJBH/Melville Foundation's housing recommendation brief, CCJBH diversion training series, the Public Health Meets Public Safety data project with CCJBH, and the Mental Health Services Oversight & Accountability Commission's (MHSOAC) Innovation Incubator project. CSG Justice Center staff provided information about Project Roomkey/Project Homekey in California, and the California Rural Homelessness workgroup.
The TA providers then summarized updates related to their CA grantees. All of the TA providers offered that communication with many of their grantees has slowed down recently due to the wildfires, and COVID-19 related issues that courts and community providers have experienced in the last few weeks. CSG Justice Center staff noted that "trauma is the theme' in many of the recent CA TA calls, which other TA providers agreed with. Many of the CA grantees (Yolo, San Luis Obispo, Nevada)? are focused on data collection and analysis. The group also discussed Wellpath's work in CA, and some of the CA counties that are close to becoming Stepping Up Innovator sites. The group will plan to have the next follow up call in December 2020 or January 2021.
