SL and site discussed the "straggler" agencies that continue to delay the fourth and final inventory section. Due to an audit, one may be several months late. SL will check to see what the protocol is, as that will be the only outstanding site and the rest will be finished. They may create a fifth inventory category, but that wouldn't affect the budget.
The grant is receiving many invoices from Bode. Only some are from SAKI - SAKI has a guaranteed rate and some are above that rate. Once Jackie (grant administrator) figures out which are not SAKI, they'll have a better sense of budget. It may be that they can make it through those several extra months; otherwise SL will facilitate contact with BJA.
Site still talking to DeWitt about tracking system mandated by separate MD legislature (which needs a victim-centered portal). This should be done by late Jan/early Feb.
VA MDT rep asks how the team can circulate a draft VNEP for input without having to submit an incomplete version to BJA. Can this be a draft? Either way, MCASA goes to all SART meetings and will disseminate it this way. VA rep to send SL standing version.
MCASA also publishes a LE guide every few years under a separate grant. The past iteration was before SAKI and the next is coming up. MCASA rep is half funded by SAKI, half not. How much does BJA have to "bless" iteration for it to be on the website?
After checking with Crystal and Pattie, yes, draft form is fine as long as there are no red flags (and there aren't; it's safe to circulate).
SL asks for memo re: extension from site to circulate to BJA with Pattie/Crystal looking it over.
During March MD check-in, SL asked MD team requested ViCAP and serial offender questions, as well as SA Awareness Month question. Received information on SAAM; SL will send questions on other two to team, to be forwarded to the appropriate person.
One site found a few more SAEKs. Pattie suggests that MD email BJA letting them know; they can offer to update the inventory form as well, but an email is a good start.
The site is moving in the direction of a commercial tracking system. Pattie lets them know that some sites have gone for off-the-shelf and still had to update for personalization. If they choose off-the-shelf, the site should make sure they have a good relationship with the vendor, for those check-ins and updates. SL will send information on which sites are using which systems.
MCASA representative will send some SAKI-funded flyers to Ruthie, to forward on to BJA. The VNE protocol is part of that bundle.
MCASA has chosen not to do notifications during COVID, except in rare cases where that seems less harmful than not to.
At regular check-in meeting, SL and team discussed the tracking system being put in place per a MD statewide legislative mandate; an upcoming MD training being planned, partly using SAKI funds; and the upcoming NCE extension, expected to extend POP by one year (Sept '22) and expected to be submitted in June.
At regular June check-in, SL learned that the planned training for mid-June had gone well and been received well, with materials approved by BJA. NCE was submitted and approved, extending POP to Sept '22. Outstanding inventory agency (Salisbury) is expected to make progress shortly; SL to be informed when they're allowed into their evidence room. Victim notifications, paused during COVID, to restart mid-July with continued sensitivity to trauma-related COVID circumstances. Team plans to apply for '21 funding.
