NCIA's Grant Manager prepared and conducted a survey of PIECP Certificate Holders with active CACs and asked if their DOC or CI received a Second Chance Act grant from the US Department of Justice. The survey also asked if the PIECP program was part of the Second Chance Act grant funding. Twenty-nine PIECP Certificate Holders responded to the survey for a response rate of 100%. Five active PIECP Certificate Holders respodned that their DOC or CI received Second Chance Act Funding. NCIA's Grant Manager then conducted follow-up out reach to those five encouraging them to include their PIE Program in future Second Chance Act grants. For the other PIECP Certificate Holders whose DOC or CI did not receive Second Chance Act funding, NCIA's Grant Manager encouraged them to consider SCA grants in the future and to incorporate thier PIE Program into their grant proposal. NCIA will forward the 2021 solicitation to all Certificate Holders with another call to action for including PIECP in any SCA grant propsals.
Following the completion of the PIECP/Second Chance Act Collaboration Survey to determine the extent that PIECP is being used to complement DOJ-funded reentry sites and the subsequent outreach that followed from the survey results, NCIA's Grant Manager then drafted the report outlining the results and the efforts to encourage PIECP Certificate Holders to consider including their PIECP Programs in their future Second Chance Act grant proposals. This report will be appended to the semi-annual reporting in JustGrants for this reporting period.
