Cumberland County NC is starting a CJCC and has requested assistance with their strategic planning process and connection with their SAA. Several planning meetings were held with CJCC leadership and a outline of a plan was developed for their CJCC members. The first step outlined was a survey to help identify priorities for the work of their council. Initial outreach from the county occurred on September 10th, 2020. The first introductory meeting with the Deputy County Manager, Duane Holder was held on October 8th. A plan was developed to make an introduction of NCJA what assistance we can provide. NCJA spoke at the Cumberland CJCC meeting in November on November 13th. At this meeting NCJA presented options for assisting the council with identifying their priorities and beginning their strategic planning process. After reviewing previous minutes and talking with members of the JSAC, NCJA developed a survey for priority identification for the council. The survey was reviewed by a small subset of the JSAC in early December. The final survey was sent out to JSAC members beginning December 18th and was extended through January in order to get 100% participation. The survey concludes phase one of the strategic planning process for Cumberland County. Phase 2 will begin in January and consist of further assistance in identifying priorities and the creation of their strategic plan.
