As part of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Project, Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) program, CNA’s Center for Justice Research and Analysis (CNA) and NCVC provided a victim services assessment for the Washington West PSN District. The US Attorney’s Office (USAO) requested the victim services assessment for the Western District of Washington in conjunction with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO). This assessment report will assist KCPAO by providing recommendations on victim-centered resources that support the needs of the PSN program and other initiatives. The Washington West PSN strategy focuses on reducing violent crime and engaging high-priority offenders in south King County and north Pierce County through proactive enforcement and prevention-focused outreach. Proactive enforcement involves data analysis, strategies, and tools for stopping crime before it occurs. The PSN strategies are specifically focused on reducing gun violence and gang-related violent crime. District Attorney (DA) Daniel Satterberg has also directed KCPAO to implement a collaborative public health approach to reducing gun violence in the State of Washington.
