Chris sent a check-in email to see how project work is going with the grantee. An inquiry about the usage of "do-it-yourself" sexual assault kits was included in the communication to see if the grantee has any knowledge of these types of SAKs being used in their area.
Additionally, Chris included information about the Virtual 5th Annual National SAKI Grantees Meeting that is being hosted September 16-18. The registration email from SAKI TTA was included as well as information on the attendance cap per SAKI site.
Donna Richmond responded stating that they have no experience with DIY SAKs in their area. She also mentioned that they are seeing an uptick in reporting after having conducted training to New Mexico SANE units on their statewide SAK tracking system.
Donna also let Chris know that they are working on their 2016 award closeout and that her last day in the office will be September 9th. The Grants Management Bureau Chief, Shelia McDonald, will be the new SAKI POC.
Chris sent Lee a check-in email to see how things are going in Albuquerque. Specifically, Chris inquired about the status of their MDT since they had issues getting together when the pandemic began. Chris also asked about the status of their courts since a lot of sites seem to have courts closed at this time.
Lee stated that they are still holding MDT meetings during the pandemic but are not currently holding jury trials, as we have seen with many other jurisdictions. They are however, holding hearings to get cases as far along as they can prior to trial. Lee also forwarded along a success article in regards to a 2015 crime.
