Oklahoma met with the Victims Advocate for Minnesota to discuss the development and implementation of their victim notification protocols. Minnesota provided insight and recommendations for when to contact the victim, including contacting victims after the SAK has been tested, setting up a system for victims to opt-out of testing and a PSA about testing, and best practices for how to engage with the victim.
Oklahoma gained valuable insight from a statewide site about the victim notification process to support the development of their own victim notification protocols. Taelyn incorporated Jim and Amy’s edits and comments and mentioned that the OSBI hired a new victim advocate that she would like to review the next draft of the protocol to get fresh eyes on the draft. She also plans to send the next draft to the SAKI Site Coordinator from Montana and the Attorney General in charge of the OAG for additional insight. Taelyn anticipates the next draft will be ready for Jim and Amy to review in the next couple of months.
