An agenda was developed for the meeting. The morning will be spend on a big picture discussion of needs and challenges smaller agencies are facing today, and the afternoon will down to specific long and short-term recommendations to address those challenges. A list of subject matter experts was developed to include representatives from rural, suburban, and tribal small agencies and a variety of expertise areas including research, training, community policing, and other law enforcement specialties. Invitations were sent out to the finalized subject matter expert list.
On January 20, 2015, twelve subject matter expert police chiefs gathered to discuss challenges, successes, and emerging needs of smaller and tribal law enforcement agencies.
