TLPI staff Jerry Gardner, Chia Halpern and Kelly Stoner planned the 13th ITWG meeting with NCAI. These planning calls took place over a span of months with at least one call a week.
TLPI staff Jerry Gardner, Chia Halpern and Kelly Stoner assisted in developing the agenda for the 13th ITWG meeting with NCAI. This included identifying topics for breakout sessions, plenary speakers, working lunch topics and discussion questions, as well as contacting speakers and revising the agenda as needed.
The 13th ITWG meeting was held for 2 days in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The meeting continued the collaboration between tribes who have implemented Special Domestic Violence Criminal Jurisdiction over non-Indians (SDVCJ) and those who are interested in implementing SDVCJ. The ITWG is a voluntary working group of designated tribal representatives who may exchange views, information, and advice, peer-to-peer, about how tribes may best implement SDVCJ, combat domestic violence, recognize victims’ rights and safety needs, and safeguard defendants’ rights.
