Julie Faller and Jason Linder (of the Nebraska State Crime Laboratory) called Ruthie and discussed certain types of kits: Partially tested (serology-only); kits that should have been DNA-tested but were stalled due to court proceedings; and kits tested with non-CODIS-eligible technology. Ruthie recommended that Omaha submit a phased testing plan within their inventory checklist that would allow them to figure out which kits have been tested.
Omaha will draft the checklist. Ruthie will be on the lookout for further questions and review the checklist when she receives it.
After a few emails back and forth, Omaha turned in a final version of their inventory checklist. Ruthie turned it in to BJA. Angela checked to make sure this had been pre-approved, and Ruthie and Pattie mentioned that although Omaha itself may not have been name-dropped, the approach of a phased inventory while a site figures out their partial situation had been approved previously. Angela asked that the site resubmit their form with a timeline of six months for figuring out their partial kit inventory; they did so and were approved.Omaha's checklist was approved, with the addition of a timeline for their partial kit inventory.
Ruthie checked with BJA, Pattie, and the site intermittently to figure out the best balance. Revise checklist based on Ruthie's and BJA's comments.
Final inventory checklist with six-month ETA for both a final untested and a partials inventory was submitted and approved, with Angela reminding site of the caveat that they can only release 25% of funds still before partial inventory is complete.
