Questions?

Submitted by Ms. Melissa Reuland on

The Marion County Sheriff's Office in Oregon has been working to respond more effectively to cases involving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The Sheriff's office requested training for their prosecutors and other legal professionals, local law enforcement officers, and victim services providers, on the topic of I/DD. The Arc, a program partner, worked with these stakeholders to create a local "Disability Response Team" and will offer a one-day training on July 9, 2019, using The Arc's "Pathways to Justice" curriculum. The Pathways to Justice program helps communities/states address key barriers to justice for people with I/DD and find practical solutions. The program will also help stakeholders establish relationships between the larger criminal justice and disability communities in Marion County and generate a reform-oriented action plan tailored for their community.
