AHP and CJI spoke with Tribal Court Judge McGinnis about the TA request. Due to the difficulties the grantee has had in engaging the University of New Mexico's Consortium for Behavioral Health Training and Research (CBHTR), their subcontracted evaluation partner, and their need to better understand the strengths and challenges of their system, the site would like assistance in conducting an asset and needs mapping. In order to complete the assessment and needs mapping, CJI proposes to conduct a short site visit (2 days) to meet with key criminal justice and substance abuse treatment partners and stakeholders. The CJI team would gather information about the current state of diversion and treatment for the targeted population. Finally, while the site understands the importance of the Sequential Intercept Mapping model, they were unfamiliar with it prior to writing their grant proposal. Information on the SIM was provided along with links to SIM resources. They were offered onsite TTA, approved by BJA, to develop the needs and strengths assessment in line with SIM. and later declined due to their connection with CBHTR to complete the task.
