Sent monthly check-in email on 4.15.19.

Suzanne Elwell responded:

We are in our getting-up-and-running phase. The subrecipients have made their hires, and I have checked in with both the MDT coordinator and Site Coordinator about setting a grant partners meeting (many of us only have “phone relationships”).

Three partners will be attending the 2019 Grantees Meeting (BCA, Anoka County, and Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault).

On today’s agenda is setting up reporting instructions for the subrecipients so that each project partner knows what I need from them and when.

And, in the meantime, we managed to submit a grant application for FY 2019 SAKI.

No success stories just yet, but will be sure to pass along when they emerge (especially since we need to keep track for grant reporting).

Catherine Knutson responed:

I’m am forwarding your email to our new MN SAKI Site Coordinator, Jess Weber. Jess started this week and is working on getting up to speed on our project as well as the many resources available specific to the BJA SAKI program. I just wanted to introduce you as she may be reaching out over the course of the MN project for TTA support. Jess will be attending the 2019 Grantees meeting so hopefully you’ll be able to meet at that time.

Other Relevant Information

Jess Weber has been added to the SAKI contact list. Lisa also sent Jess the Welcome Webinar link.

Cathy responded and said that Jess Weber would be the ViCAP rep.

Chris responded with some questions:
Things are moving along nicely. We had our first full MDT meeting last week and today we had our first sub-committee meeting to discuss kit submissions. I think we worked out the details and will plan on submitting our first 50 or so SAK’s in early June. The biggest problem I am having is finding all the case files associated with the SAK’s. I have determined that some are cases that are still open to detectives and have spoken with them about closing them so that they can be scanned in and reviewed. That accounts for a few but not the older ones. There are a couple that I have no entry’s for and seem to have never existed except they are in our evidence. Those are the biggest challenges I am having right now. I think we just need to do some investigative work on this end and we will figure out.

Lisa reached out to Jim Markey and received some guidance and responded on 5.10.19. I offered to set up a phone call with Jim and Chris, if needed.
