Michigan State University, School of Criminal Justice (MSU) received the 2018 award for Category 1 Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) provider. MSU will work with CNA (Category 2) and NCVC (Category 3) throughout the grant period to provide assistance to the national PSN program, BJA, OLP, EOUSA and any other entity requesting assistance implementing PSN strategies.

The new PSN grant funds were released mid-late November.
On November 29, Robyn Carter, Ed McGarrell, and Heather Perez, herein known as the "MSU team", attended a PSN TTA partners kick-off meeting at BJA with Kate McNamee.
Weekly partners and BJA calls were established in early December. MSU set-up a dedicated conference call line and circulates a weekly agenda.
The MSU team attended 2018 PSN National Conference in Kansas City, MO, on December 5-7, 2018. The MSU was available during the Resource Fair. Ed McGarrell and Heather Perez presented a sessions. MSU received acknowledgement from former Attorney General John Ashcroft during the closing ceremonies for PSN evaluations and contributions over the years. All post conference requests (e.g., providing resources, making connections between colleagues, initiating formal TTA requests, etc.) were addressed.
The PSN TTA partners began creating protocols, resources, branding materials and the like to establish a work flow and guide roles and responsibilities.
MSU provides frequent PSN field updates to Kate McNamee to inform Director Adler of activities, successes and innovations.
MSU worked with Kate McNamee to transition from existing PSN funds to new PSN funds.
MSU reviewed and provided feedback-"needs revision" or "approved"- on all received FY2018 Strategic Action Plans (SAP).
The PSN TTA team began responding to TTA requests from the field. Internal resources will be used as well as coordination with other providers (e.g., IACP/CRI, APPA, NGC, etc).
