The Audit Quality and Integrity (AQI) Division completed a variety of tasks that have integrated the AQI Division with the Field Training Program (FTP) with a goal of providing a more robust and inclusive training experience for Auditor Trainee Candidates. The work of the Division has included 1) development of additional resources to assist Auditor Trainee Candidates in understanding their responsibilities to write a comprehensive audit report that adheres to the requirements of the PREA standards, the PREA Auditor Handbook and all guidance received from the Department of Justice; 2) interfacing with the FTP Division to provide in-person, targeted technical assistance directly to Auditor Trainee Candidates both the pre-onsite and post-onsite phases of the audit to assist with, enhance and strengthen report writing skills; and 3) implementing the AQI/FTP Liaison position that provides ongoing support and technical assistance to the FTP faculty and trainees on each individual FTP to strengthen the AQI/FTP integration process in a meaningful way.

The Audit Quality and Integrity (AQI) Division provides office hours where auditor trainee candidates from the Field Training Program may call to speak with an AQI staff regarding questions they may have. AQI staff will assist trainees with questions or concerns they have about their FTP writing assignments, PREA audit report writing requirements in the PREA Auditor Handbook, audit process questions, and basic report writing skills, etc. AQI maintains office hours two hours per week (Tuesday and Thursday) and also provides custom office hours where trainees can schedule other times, including nights and weekends, that are more convenient to their schedules.
The Audit Quality and Integrity (AQI) Division works in conjunction with the PRC Field Training Program (FTP) during each FTP cycle which normally runs from approximately June/July to June each year. Each cycle will have approximately eight (8) FTP audits which normally have approximately six (6) auditor trainee candidates. AQI provides ongoing technical assistance to the trainees and provides detailed reviews of their audit report writing work products (i.e., the narrative section which contains a comprehensive description of the audit methodology and one standard-specific discussion which demonstrates triangulation of the evidence to reach compliance determinations). AQI provides feedback in writing to the FTP faculty and each auditor trainee.
